A Solution For One Of The Most Common Hair Color Challenges

Tips for better hair color and gray coverage.

Getting a freshly done hair color at the salon can be a great experience.
But, there are times mistakes may happen even to the best of us. Fortunately, we have solutions for one of the most common hair coloring challenges.

What to do when hair color doesn’t cover gray hair?
There are several reasons why hair color is not entirely covering gray hair. First, you want to make sure you are using the correct permanent hair coloring formula. If you are eye-balling the mixture and processing time, this could throw off the procedure too. Second, you could be dealing with highly resistant hair and may benefit from extending the processing time by 15 minutes to allow the hair color to absorb fully. Here is one that we see time after time, the hair shaft coated with color-blocking elements. When you have highly resistant hair and color-blocking elements that prevent hair color absorption, this is most likely causing the gray coverage dilemma. What to do?
Many hair colorists don’t think about pre-cleansing the hair before hair color. Some believe that will wash away the protective sebum from the scalp, leading to irritation caused by the hair color. There could be some truth to this, mainly when you use the wrong type of shampoo. Yet, this theory started back in the ’50s when hair coloring products contain high levels of ammonia. Today, most professional brands have low to zero amounts of ammonia. So this shouldn’t be a problem. A common belief is that applying color to wet hair will dilute the hair color. Also, some say I don’t have time and or think they must blow-dry the hair completely. We understand these are concerns, yet there is a solution. We recommend bathing the hair with COLURE’s Clean Start Shampoo for those who have challenges with gray coverage.
This new technology shampoo not only gently removes color-blocking elements and also will not strip out the color or the scalps’ protective sebum.
This 100% vegan shampoo contains COLURE’s Organic Super Complex that helps restore the integral lipid layer to the cuticle and helps to balance the scalp’s natural sebum. Also, Clean Start Shampoo has a pH of 5.5 that keeps the cuticle and scalp where it needs to be. This shampoo includes vegan plant-based bond-building protein and amino acids to help repair porous areas in the hair shaft. At the same time, while leaving the cuticle smooth without those color-blocking elements.
Clean Start Shampoo, use it in the salon or at home before the hair coloring service. Rinse the hair with tepid temperature water. Then apply a quarter-size dollop and work the shampoo from the top to the tips going in one direction. Do this until hair is entirely saturated. Then rinse thoroughly after bathing the hair, gently towel blot, and add a small amount of Richly Moisturize conditioner from the mid-length to the tips. Rinse again.
Before coloring, gently towel blot the hair until it is slightly moist to the touch. Hair color will absorb quicker doing this method. Here is why it works so well.
Everyone knows that a damp sponge absorbs a spill more than a dry sponge. Scientifically speaking, a hydrogen bond will form with a hydrogen atom on one water molecule and link to an oxygen atom on another water molecule. Hydrogen bonding is highly beneficial to hair coloring and all beauty products and services.
