It’s easier than you might think. With these simple tips and the right tools, anyone can learn how to blow dry their hair like a professional hair stylist.

One essential tip to a good blowout is the tools you use. For the best results, use a salon professional hair dryer. Look for a hair dryer with heat and speed control. Choose a dryer that has a concentrator attachment to target the air flow. A high-quality blow-dryer is worth the investment; The best ones are designed to minimize heat damage while providing quick drying and controlled styling. The brush of choice is just as essential and determines the style. If you’re going for some curl, choose a round barrel brush that matches the size of curls you want. For sleek, straight hair, use a flat paddle brush.

There are a few options when it’s time to pre-dry your hair. The goal is to get your hair approximately 75 percent dry before going in with your brush to style it. Either let the hair air dry until it reaches that level of dryness or, use a dryer to remove excess moisture before you start the blowout.
If you have a short fringe (bangs), dry them first. Use your brush to create the desired style, so they’re easier to control later.

Divide and comb hair into sections and secure with clips. Twirl hair into mini buns, two in the back and one on each side, this often works well. If you have thick hair, divide each section into a bottom and top sub-section to help manage the blowout. Begin with one part, then move on to the next one.

When starting the blowout. Starting at the roots, move your fingers through your hair. Lift up hair out a few inches and hold it while using the dryer to dry the section.

The last step of each section is to hold the hair firm with the brush and blast it with the cooler air using the dryer’s cold-shot setting to set the style.
