Did you know hair is composed of a protein called keratin? Thou, the hair above the scalp, is considered dead, you should always take good care of it. Your hair plays an import role in how others view your style and personality. Beautiful looking hair can even attract the eye from a distance. That is why millions of American women spend lots of time and money on keeping their colored hair looking it’s best.

Here are tips for keeping your colored hair looking hair-mazing!

Be sure to cleanse your hair frequently especially before it gets too oily, dirty and expels an unpleasant odor. Also, consider your scalp when washing your hair. The first step is to
get your hair wet with tempted temperature water.
Use a small amount of shampoo. We recommend shampoo that is free of sulfates, parabens, sodium chloride and has a pH level of 5.5.
Start with a quarter size dollop, and this will be plenty.
Begin by working the shampoo from scalp to tips, do this until you have saturated the entire strands of hair. Then gently massage the shampoo into your scalp.
Rinse thoroughly, until you don’t see any more suds going down the drain.
Gently towel-dry your hair with a towel. If you have color-treated hair that is dry and damaged use a treatment conditioner or a hair masque. Be sure the conditioner is complete with moisture, protein, lipids and essential nutrients to nourish your hair. Using the right conditioner will restore vital nutrients back to your hair and even provide benefits to the scalp. Leave in for 2-5 minutes then rinse.
Comb it out carefully with a wide-tooth comb, especially if it’s curly. Don’t pull or tug, because that can break the hair or pull it out.
Let your hair air dry whenever you can. Hair dryers can be damaging to hair especially if you have not applied any thermal protectants.

How often you cleanse your hair depends on what it looks like and how it feels. If your hair gets oily quickly, washed it more often. Straight hair can get more oily quickly. Very curly hair tends not to get as greasy. If you have very curly, kinky or thick hair, that tends to be too dry and frizzy. Using a treatment conditioner after you wash your hair will smooth and eliminate embarrassing frizziness. We recommend COLURE’s Regenerative Hair Masque once a week and the day before your next hair coloring service.

All kinds of things can damage hair and make it break off or get too dry. To protect your hair, be careful around:

The sun, which is one reason why you should wear a hat when you go outside.
Chemicals, such as chlorine in pools, we suggest washing your hair after swimming in a pool. In this case, we recommend Cleans Start Shampoo.
Appliances used to style hair, such as curling irons, flat irons, and hair dryers. Don’t overuse them too much, especially if your hair seems to be getting drier or breaks quickly.
Last yet not least, look closely at the ends of your hair, you may notice that the tips may be splitting apart. Thou split-ends may be irreparable, best to visit your hair stylist to keep your hair looking it’s healthiest.
